Crisis management
Manual distribution
BCP crisis control manuals developed by the secretariat are distributed to the officers and department managers, and are used for daily drills and emergency-response drills in the event of any potential risk.

Introduction
In the event of an unexpected natural disaster (earthquake, tsunami, special warning, etc.), we have introduced a system that enables us to promptly confirm the safety of our employees through registered individual mail addresses and smartphone-specific apps. It can be used not only in natural disasters but also in the event of problems both inside and outside the company, and we strive to ensure the safety of our employees.

Introduction
During the heavy rainfall in Western Japan in 2018, some areas were unable to use mobile phones due to the flooding of base stations and the loss of power, so we introduced satellite phones that serve as the next means of communication for fixed-line phones and mobile phones. Equipment is in place to deal with the Nankai Trough Earthquake, which is believed to occur with a high probability.

Loans
Electric vehicles are used as company vehicles, and in the event of an emergency, they can be lent out as emergency power sources. A power supply connector is also provided so that you can use electricity outdoors at any time.

Production and sales
In response to the spread of new-type coronaviruses, Uchiyama Industries manufactures and sells masks and other sanitary supplies. In the case of corona trouble, we introduced equipment for the production of non-woven cloth masks to enable employees, suppliers, and local residents to live safely and comfortably because the masks from our dealers were in a thin condition.

Opinion exchange forum
The Uchiyama Industrial Oku Plant regularly exchanges opinions with residents in the Uyuku-cho, Setouchi, Okayama Prefecture, where the plant is located in case of a natural disaster. Based on a common awareness with local residents that emphasize countermeasures against natural disasters, especially floods and earthquakes, we have concluded an agreement so that both districts and companies can cooperate with each other, making use of factories as evacuation sites, as well as close relationships through exchanges of opinions and disaster prevention drills.

In May 2023, the Akasaka Plant of Uchiyama Industries signed an agreement with Akaban City, Okayama Prefecture, with the Yamaguchi District on the use of facilities as emergency temporary evacuation centers in the event of a disaster. When there was a risk of a disaster in the Yamaguchi Ward where the plant is located, or when a disaster occurred, the plant became an emergency evacuation center, allowing evacuees to be accepted. Similarly, in October 2018, the Toyo Cork Hiroshima Plant of the Uchiyama Group signed an agreement with Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, regarding the provision of facilities in the event of a disaster, to ensure the safety and security of local residents in emergencies.
Bed manufacture
Toyo Cork of the Uchiyama Group manufactures the "Pong on the Floor" simple assembly bed made of foamed polypropylene for use in evacuation centers due to natural disasters, etc. It can improve the living environment at evacuation centers and reduce the burden on the body, and is adopted by local governments around the country.

The Toyo Cork Hiroshima Plant of the Uchiyama Group manufactures Toyo's secrets, drinking water using high-quality groundwater from Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. In the event of a heavy rainfall in Western Japan in 2018, we provided drinking water to the affected areas, where water was suspended. We also stock drinking water for emergency use at Uchiyama Group sites.

In the handbook
Distribution
We distribute to employees as handbooks an information security policy that clarifies the risks that can be incurred in information utilization and summarizes how to deal with risks that do not evolve into problems.

Cognitive activity
Information exists in various forms, and if it is mishandled, it will develop into problems such as information leakage. In order for each employee to gain greater understanding of information security, which is becoming increasingly important, we are working to raise awareness through explanatory meetings and E-learning.
