Occupational safety and health management system
Our efforts include continual safety and health control based on OSHMS occupational health and safety management system, preventing occupational accidents, promoting the health of workers, and creating a comfortable working environment. Through these efforts, we are focusing on the creation of a culture of health and safety.
Safety and health system

Occupational accidents and accidents during commutation
Occupational accidents and accidents while commuting are promptly addressed by investigating the causes of the accident, formulating countermeasures, and distributing the information thoughout spreading the accident across the company. We are working to prevent accidents at all workplaces by conducting periodic near-miss reports and conducting KYT (hazard prediction training).

Typical Measures
Safety and Quality Conventions are held once a year to announce and award the results of safety and health activities and quality improvement activities at each base of the Uchiyama Group. By sharing and awarding excellent activities across the entire Group, we promote the improvement of employee motivation and awareness.

Education and training
In order to raise employees' safety awareness and acquire knowledge, we provide safety and health education for all employees and managers. Other training sessions include hazard training using equipment manufactured in-house.

At the Okuku Plant of Uchiyama Industrial Co., Ltd., the Hazardous Materials Safety Convention in Okayama Prefecture was held in May 2023. Hazardous Materials Handling was recognized as an excellent site and received the "Okayama Prefectural Dangerous Materials Safety Association Chairman's Award."

Stress checks are conducted to raise the health level of employees' mind, which leads to revitalization of organizations and improvement of productivity. We are effectively promoting care not only within the workplace, but also by outside organizations (industrial physicians, etc.) to encourage the early detection and support of mental malfunctions.

[Smoking prohibited during working hours]
Since 2023, we have been prohibiting smoking completely during working hours.

[Participation in an anti-company walking rally]
We are participating in a walking rally event where we compete with other companies in the number of steps. Many employees enjoy participating in these activities, such as switching from commuting by car to commuting on foot and introducing the habit of walking consciously. In fiscal 2023, we ranked sixth among the approximately 500 organizations involved. (Photo right)

Certification as an Excellent
Legal Entity
We have been certified for the fifth consecutive year as a “Health Management Excellence Corporation 2025 (Small and Medium-sized Corporation Category)” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Health Council.

Certification
We have been certified as a “Health Promotion Company” by the National Health Insurance Association for the year 2025. Our initiatives for the 2024 fiscal year earned us an A rating.

Concept of human rights
[Prohibition of Discrimination]
We evaluate and treat each employee fairly according to the contents of each person's work and performance. Discrimination based on gender, race, nationality, religion, thought, physical handicap, or other personal characteristics (LGBTQ, etc.)
This will not be made accepted under any circumstances. Refrain from conversations, which can cause discomfort even when it is not clearly distinctive. We will also comply with all regulations and rules related to the acceptance of foreign nationals (e.g. foreign technical interns).
[Prohibition of Harassment]
Various types of harassment, such as power harassment, sexual harassment, and harassment related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare leave, will not be permitted because it will cause discomfort to the other party or adversely affect the workplace environment.
[Privacy Protection]
We will strictly control the personal information of our executives and employees and will not use it for any purpose other than the original purpose.
Unless there is a justifiable reason such as a court order, the Company will not disclose such information to outsiders without the approval of the applicable employees.
[Freedom of Association and Group Negotiation]
We recognize the fundamental rights of all employees to form union and employee representatives in accordance with the laws and regulations of the countries and regions in which we operate.
We are actively recruits foreign employees at its domestic bases. In promoting globalization, we are making efforts to develop human resources of foreign employees by facilitating smooth communicaton with overseas business partners and providing training for technical personnel.

We are committed to creating a comfortable work environment for people with disabilities so that they can work comfortably and be assigned to positions and jobs that suit their individual abilities. We comply with the employment rate stipulated by the Law for Employment Promotion of Persons with Disabilities.

In order to promote the advancement of women within the company, we focus on employee training and development.

Representative Efforts
Various types of education such as harassment training and uncompromising bias training are provided to raise employees' awareness and knowledge about harassment. In addition, posters are posted on in-house bulletin boards (including WEB) to raise awareness among employees.

Views on Labor
[Prohibition of Forced Labor and Trafficking in Persons]
We will legally employ our employees in accordance with the laws and regulations of the countries and regions in which we operate. All labor should be voluntary and ensure that employees can leave free. As a condition of employment, we will not require the passport, official identification, or work permit to be delivered.
[Prohibition of Child Labor]
Employees shall not be allowed to engage in child labor in any job by confirming that they have reached the age at which they can work at the time of employment. Also, young people under 18 years of age are not engaged in hazardous tasks that may impair sound development. The working age shall be the highest of either 15 years of age or the minimum working age or the age of completion of compulsory education under the laws of the country or region in which the business is conducted. Provided, however, that vocational training and apprenticeship shall be permitted only to the extent permitted by law.
[Work Time Management]
Employees' working hours (including overtime hours) shall not exceed the limits stipulated by the laws and regulations of the country or region in which they operate. The Company will grant employees the right to holidays and annual paid holidays stipulated by law.
[Appropriate wages]
In compliance with laws and regulations concerning minimum wages, overtime work, wage deductions, piece rate wages, and other benefits in the countries and regions in which the Company operates, the Company will pay employees wages.
We are working to reduce working hours so that our employees can work in a healthy and prosperous manner. We manage employee overtime hours, improve the work styles of problematic departments and individuals, and establish planned no-overtime days to create a work environment that allows employees to continue working.

Childcare Leave
To support work styles that suit each employee, we encourage employees to actively take paid leave and childcare leave. We have established internal regulations to allow employees to take half-day paid leave, and we are encouraging employees to increase the rate of male employees taking childcare leave.

Certification
Our childcare support initiatives have been recognized, and we have received the “Kurumin” certification from the Okayama Labor Bureau.

We have been continuously certified as an Okayama Child-Rearing Support Declaration Company since 2009.

Representative Efforts
We incorporate a learning system that allows employees to learn the various kinds of knowledge necessary for their work, such as safety, cost, quality and environment, production and improvement, and conservation, while checking their understanding in stages.
In 2023, we established a new employee cafeteria at our laboratories to enhance welfare and promote health. It also features health-conscious menus, a changeover menu, and a light food retailer and coffee machine. With a spacious space of about 80 seats, you can view the natural rich landscape from the 6th floor above the ground while changing the mood.

Employee dormitories for single employees are loaned to the Minamiyama dormitory. In addition to creating an environment where employees can work easily, we are also strengthening our support system so that our lives can be enriched.

The Uchiyama Group Movement is a major event in which approximately 1000 people participate every time. Other recreations include employee travel and golf competitions, where employees can enjoy and participate.

Numerous club activities are conducted with the aim of exchanging employees, maintaining their health, and enriching their hobbies. Through club activities such as karting, athletes, tea ceremony, fishing, astronomy, etc., we are connected to communication across departments.
