Procurement

Basic Concepts

The Uchiyama Group's business activities are supported by many suppliers. In order to carry out sustainable efforts with suppliers, we have compiled and shared basic policies in the Supplier CSR Guidelines. In this context, we have positioned "safety, quality and compliance" as a priority issue, and are moving forward with initiatives aimed at actively meeting society's expectations while solidifying the foundations that support management. Matters to be observed are set forth in the Compliance Manual, BCP Crisis Control Manual, and other manuals, and through training activities such as training and enlightenment, officers and employees are informed and awareness-raising are being raised. In addition, we are striving to respond firmly to the expectations of society by providing safe products, responding to environmental issues, and taking into account human rights and labor issues.

CSR Guidelines for Suppliers

In 2020, we formulated our Supplier CSR Guidelines in order to carry out sustainable initiatives together with our suppliers. The content that suppliers want to comply with is clearly stated and shared, which leads to the maintenance of appropriate transactions and the improvement of communication.

Risk Management

In addition to risk assessments using external organizations, certain suppliers are periodically visited to audit for direct evaluation. Suppliers that start new transactions are also subject to risk-management by using assessment tables and other means to evaluate their management and financial condition, compliance with CSR, and other aspects of their operations from various perspectives.

Responding to Mineral Conflicts

The Uchiyama Group aims to procure conflict-free minerals for minerals originating in conflict areas and high-risk areas in order to curb humanitarian crisis by cutting off the funding sources of conflict. We will also consult with suppliers to introduce the due diligence program for conflict minerals to manage the responsible supply chain and to ensure rational management.

Partnership
Construction declaration

Uchiyama Industries supported the "Declaration of Partnership Construction" with the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and other members. This declaration states the viewpoint of the orderer that a new partnership should be established by promoting cooperation with suppliers and businesses in the supply chain.
