In 1898, our company was founded as the Uchiyama Cork-Stopper Factory and began production of cork stoppers. Since then, it has developed a great many cork products and has grown into a top manufacturer in the cork industry. During this period, synthetic rubber and synthetic resin production divisions were added and presently gaskets and sealing materials for cars and industrial machines are our mainstay.

1944 | Established Toyo Cork, Ltd. taking over the cork department of Toyo Manufacturing Corp. (Mazda Motor Corp.) |
1950 | Developed the first cork-rubber composition in Japan. |
1951 | Started manufacturing oil seals, spinning-rollers, industrial products of synthetic rubber compounds and gaskets of cork-rubber compositions. |
1953 | Developed expanded polystyrene products and steam-baking system for insulation cork board, first in Japan. |
1955 | Established Uchiyama Kogyo, Ltd (Uchiyama Corporation Ltd.). |
1956 | Changed the name to Uchiyama Cork Co., Ltd. |
1959 | Developed bearing seals formed by core and synthetic rubber compounds. |
1962 | Changed the Uchiyama Kogyo, Ltd. to Uchiyama Manufacturing Corp. |
1966 | Started manufacturing crowns (bottle caps) and urethane foam at the Chigasaki Plant. |
1969 | Started exporting bearing seals. |
1972 | Developed and started manufacturing “TAMIRON FUSUMA”. |
1973 | Developed and started manufacturing the first crowns having polyethylene liners “POLYMODE” in Japan. |
1975 | Established Uchiyama America, Inc. in NJ, U.S.A. |
1977 | Started manufacturing synthetic rubber gaskets by a rubber-injection machine. |
1979 | Established NE Seal Corp. for bearing seal production. |
1981 | Established U-SUN Gasket Corp. and started manufacturing O-pak gaskets. |
1982 | Established U-SUN Precision Corp. for mold and tool production. |
1984 | Developed and started manufacturing Agglomerated Cork Stoppers. |
1986 | Established branch offices in Tokyo, Osaka, Toyama, Nagoya, and Hiroshima. |
1988 | Established Dong-A Kigong Co. Ltd. (DongAh Uchiyama Manufacturing Corp.) by joint management in the Public of Korea. |
1992 | Established UMC Akasaka Technical Center for R&D in Okayama Prefecture. |
1995 | Established a European office in Germany. |
1996 | Established Uchiyama Portugal in Portugal and started manufacturing. |
1997 | Transferred Uchiyama America, Inc. to North Carolina and started manufacturing gaskets. Changed the name of the European office to Uchiyama Europe GmbH. |
2000 | Established Uchiyama Vietnam and started manufacturing. |
2002 | Established Qindao DongAh Manufacturing Corp. (by joint management) in China. |
2003 | Established Uchiyama (Shanghai) International Corp. in China. |
2004 | Established Guangzhou Uchiyama Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in China and started manufacturing. |
2008 | Established Uchiyama (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand. |
2012 | Uchiyama America Inc. opened Detroit Office. |
2013 | Established Uchiyama (India) Private Ltd. in India. |
2016 | Established Uchiyama Sudamérica SRL in Paraguay. |
2021 | Established Uchiyama Manufacturing De Yucatan,S.A.De C.V. in Mexico and scheduled to start production. |
